Museum of Traffic Premier - July 15th at Latitude 33

by Latitude33, Jul 12, 2010

To celebrate the opening of Latitude 33, one of the most important things was to ensure that we were showcasing the local talent, artistic soul and spirit that has not only made the communities of Venice and Marina del Rey so unique but also the city of Los Angeles.

This has historically been a community of innovators and artistic pioneers.  To exhibit this local talent pool, we have asked Museum of Traffic to transform Latitude into a work of living art.

Museum of Traffic (MoT): is a live projection mapping company that creates custom content designed for architectural surfaces. We were introduced to them via LACMA Muse. Using video projectors and state of the art AV software, optical illusions come to life, transforming buildings into immersive audiovisual environments. We are more than excited to have them transform the surface of Latitude 33 into a work of art for our Grand Opening Premier on July 15th. The west facing surface will be transformed into a 7-story 3D art installation showcasing video and images highlighting the area lifestyle and unique building features. The show begins promptly at 8:45 PM and will be visible from the canals so the public will be able to enjoy the show as well.

The art form has been showcased at festivals such as Burning Man and Coachella, but this is the first time it has been utilized to transform an entire building’s surface.

We have also asked the Grilled Cheese Truck to come for the event so locals can enjoy the show while having one of LA’s favorite food trucks available as well.
